Our History

History of the Library

The Marcellus Township Wood Memorial Library has existed, in one form or another, since the 1890's. It acquired a permanent dedicated facility in 1924, largely through the will of Russell Wood, a young man who lost his life in World War I.

The library has a service population of 5,491 and serves the following townships: Flowerfield, Marcellus, Newberg, Porter and Volinia.

In 2001 the library expanded it's location as well as it's holdings. The current space now houses a greater number of books and materials as well as computers for patron use.
